Even though Indiana is known to be a conservative state and it usually votes conservative the past few years have shown a little more of a democratic side to the state. And in this years Indiana senate election we see Evan Bayh and Todd young in a very close matchup. One reason it is close is because Evan Bayh has already served in the junior senator of Indiana from 1999-2001, and he was the governor of Indiana from 1989-97, this shows that he has lots of experience in government and that gives many voters more comfortable with voting for him because he is experienced. Also in most states the big cities in urban area’s vote democratic and the suburbs and more rural parts of the state vote more conservative therefore the growth of cities like Indianapolis cause a growth of democratic voter. Causing the elections to become more competitive between the conservatives and Democrats. That’s why this senate race between Todd Young and Evan Bayh is so close.
